Support Networks
There are homeschool organizations in every state in the U.S.
They provide accurate information on the legal way to homeschool in
their state, along with information on homeschool resources, support
groups, conferences, and events. Whether you're new to homeschooling,
or just looking for some fun and educational activities to do with
your kids, these organizations will help you.
Feel free to contact these vast, bustling communities for advice,
resource recommendations, and encouragement.
Homefires Free Online Support Networks and Email Discussion Lists
This list is for readers and fans of Homefires~The Journal of Homeschooling --
and anyone interested in homeschooling. We share resources,
support, curriculum ideas, activities, and information in an
all-inclusive, neutral forum that is respectful of all home
school methods and philosophies. We have Guest Members who
are authors, educators, and veteran homeschoolers who also
share their wisdom about topics related to homeschooling. The
moderator, Diane Flynn Keith, Editor/Publisher of Homefires,
retains the right to maintain the integrity and character of
this list.

Homeschooling parents spend lots
of time in the family car going to Park Days and on Field Trips.
Many home educators take advantage of time spent in the car
to learn a variety of subjects through games, CDs and audio
tapes. This Carschooling® list is designed so that families
can share ideas, resources, and activities for learning while
traveling in the car. We hope sharing information here will
improve everyone's time on the road.

We designed this list to provide
you with "curriculum" ideas every day via email.
We call it "ClickSchooling" because it makes learning
available with just the click of a mouse. We search the net
for the best resources on every subject of study. We sort them
into age/grade ranges, organize them by subject category, and
select our top picks and send them to you. Each day of the
week you can expect an email that will give you ideas, activities,
and suggestions for learning with your kids at home: Monday-Math;
Tuesday-Science; Wednesday-Reading & Writing Resources;
Thursday-History, Geography, & Social Studies; Friday Virtual
Field Trips; and Weekends are for Electives -- Art, Music,
Foreign Languages and more!
This group is for the purpose of planning strategies on:
- How to combat the implementation of government funded and/or mandatory Universal Preschool.
- How to empower parents with information and resources to help them feel confident and capable of teaching their little ones at home and/or with thoughtful use of privately funded preschool programs, co-ops, and homeschools.
- How to inform educators, government policy makers, and the media of our opposition to government funded and/or mandatory preschool programs.
This is not a discussion list of the pros and cons of Universal Preschool. This list is for concerned parents,
educators, policy makers, and others who oppose the implementation of government funded and/or mandatory
Universal Preschool and want to do something about it. If you join the list, please introduce yourself and let
us know what kinds of skills you have that will help this cause. We need concerned parents, educators, writers,
researchers, marketers, techies, strategists, child development experts, financial backers, and more. Please join
us if you can help. For more information visit

How To Teach Your Toddler At Home. This list offers
suggestions for learning with preschoolers at home. Expect to receive fun,
educational ideas, resources, and activities, as well as inspirational stories and messages of
encouragement, that will enhance your parenting skills and enrich your learning environment
at home. You don't have to send your little one to preschool. You can successfully prepare
your young child (about 2 to 6 years old) for school or homeschool without going to preschool.
This list is designed to help you do just that.
When it comes to field trips, homeschoolers
are some of the most creative seekers and doers you'll ever
find. Whether you're looking to add fun learning experiences
to your daily curriculum through VIRTUAL field trips, or are
actually piling your learners into the car for a designated
travel point or road trip of undiscovered wonders, you'll find
everything you need here.

The Homefires Calendar of Events serves as a way to network information about field
trips, co-op classes, and other social/educational events developed by homeschoolers
for homeschoolers taking place throughout California-especially
in the San Francisco Bay Area. Support Groups in California
are also encouraged to list notices of their park days, and
other events that are open to all homeschoolers. Through attending
these events you can get to know other homeschoolers and develop
friendships and support. This list is not for discussion or
dialogue -- but just for posts about educational events. We
also occasionally post information about good educational resources
and distance learning opportunities -- some of which are provided
by homeschoolers, and others that are available to the general
public.

(i.e. business, city park and recreation department, museum, etc.), please

We will review it to determine if posting is appropriate.
